- National Park entry permit (Sagarmatha, Langtang, Chitwan...) — park gate/NTNC
- Conservation Area permits: ACAP, MCAP, GCAP etc. — NTNC offices/e-permit
- Restricted Area Permits (RAP): Upper Mustang, Manaslu, Nar Phu, Tsum Valley, Dolpo, Kanchenjunga — Dept. of Immigration, via registered agency with licensed guide
- Peak Climbing Permit — trekking peaks (Group A/B) via Department of Tourism / NMA
- Local/municipal permits: e.g., Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit (Everest region, replaced TIMS there in 2018)
- Process for any two: documents (passport, photos, fee), issuing office, validity
- Rule change: since April 2023 a licensed guide is mandatory for trekking in protected areas
